Thank you for your message. Before using the file, please be aware of the following:
A BIN file obtained by converting an original FRF / SGO file contains only the MAP / calibration area of the software. It does NOT contain:
- the bootloader area
- the non-calibration (program) code
- the EEPROM data (immobilizer data, coding, adaptations, etc.)
Why this matters for bench flashing:
When a unit is read and written in bench mode, the tool reads and writes the complete flash memory, including the bootloader and all non-calibration code. Most tools also read the EEPROM in bench mode. A complete flash read together with an EEPROM read is a full backup of the unit.
A BIN file converted from FRF / SGO is only a partial image, so:
- it cannot be flashed to a unit in bench mode
- it cannot be used to restore a unit to a specific software version
- it cannot be used to change the software version of a unit
These files are intended for calibration/MAP-area use with tools that write the calibration area only (OBD / calibration flashing). To restore or change the software version, the original FRF / SGO / ODX file must be flashed with a compatible tool, or a complete bench backup (full flash + EEPROM) of a matching unit must be used.
FRF files and immobilizer:
It is not possible to flash an FRF file to an immobilized unit unless the TCU immobilizer is matched to the car and the TCU is connected to the car. As long as the immobilizer is active, it will prevent flashing of FRF files.
SGO files:
SGO files are intended for units without immobilizer, so they can be flashed in both bench and OBD mode.
Please make sure you understand these limitations before purchasing or using a converted BIN file.
